This year was certainly one of the most memorable since I started making wine. We knew it would be interesting when, after an unusually warm late winter, we had the earliest bud-break ever recorded. A warm Spring and early Summer also jump started the growth. We had almost no rain the entire growing season — it was the driest on record. Then we had the coldest February on record and in early March we had the hottest day in over 60 years! It wasn’t for the fainthearted, that is for sure. We processed nearly 50% of our harvest in one week. At this stage, the wines look incredible. Very deeply coloured and richly textured. But you’ll have to wait 3 years to taste the results!
